Sophie Burnham is the award-winning author of genre-defying and unapologetically queer speculative fiction. Their debut novel Sargassa won the Sidewise Award and was shortlisted for the Locus. Its sequel Bloodtide is currently available for preorder ahead of publication on October 14, 2025.

They have been a participating writer in—and the script doctor behind—multiple studio film and television projects. They’re a recovering theatre kid with a BFA in Acting from Syracuse University. Sophie currently lives in Scotland, where they are pursuing an MSc in Narrative Futures at the University of Edinburgh.
